Placing Calls with PennyTalk

Once you have opened a PennyTalk account, you can easily make calls at great low rates. Just follow these simple steps for dialing from a home phone, mobile phone or payphone.

Placing calls with PennyTalk from your home phone:

  1. Dial the PennyTalk local access number: 0207 993 1251. You may also use our freephone access number: 0808 168 9711.
  2. When prompted, dial your PennyTalk account number and 4-digit PIN.
  3. For calls to the U.K.: Dial the city code and local number.
    For international calls from the U.K.: Dial 00, the country code, city code and local number.

Placing calls with PennyTalk from your mobile phone:

When making a call with PennyTalk from your mobile phone, do not dial the number you are calling directly from your contact list.

To ensure that your call is placed using the PennyTalk network, please follow these dialing instructions:

  1. Dial the local access number 0207 993 1251 or freephone access number 0808 168 9711 from anywhere in the U.K. (For even easier dialing, you may wish to put these access numbers into your mobile phone contact list and set them up as speed dial numbers.)
  2. If you have not yet set up the No-PIN Dialing feature on your account, when prompted enter your PennyTalk account number and PIN. If you have activated No-PIN Dialing on your account, then you will not need to enter your account number and PIN, since we will recognize your account automatically.
  3. Using the keypad, dial the phone number you wish to call. DO NOT use your contact list and DO NOT press Send, OK or Call when you finish dialing the number. If you are dialing internationally from the U.K.: Dial 00, the country code, city code and local number. If you are dialing a number within the U.K., dial the city code and local number.

It is very important that you DO NOT press Send, OK or Call after dialing the number you are calling. If you do, this will cancel your PennyTalk call and the call will be carried and billed by your mobile service provider.

Before each call connects, you will hear your account balance and minutes remaining.

What It Costs

Calls cost 1p a minute in the United Kingdom and as little as 1p a minute worldwide. There is a 35p connection fee for each call that connects. There is a 79p monthly service fee that applies to all accounts which is charged on each monthly anniversary of activation. All rates and fees are inclusive of VAT.

For example, the rate to Germany is 1p a minute. A half-hour call to Germany costs just £0.65. That’s 30 minutes x 1p per minute, plus 35p. The cost of your calls is deducted from your account balance. That’s it.

Opening a PennyTalk Account

It is very easy to start calling with PennyTalk! A PennyTalk prepaid account can be opened instantly with as little as £10. After you make the purchase, you will be provided an Account Number and PIN to start making calls right away.

As you make calls, charges are deducted from your account balance. You may add funds to your account at any time, or enable the Auto Recharge option so you never have to worry about running out of call time.
